The Criteria of Shape

Unlike any other sport, bodybuilding exalts the fabrication of muscle, shape and form in a never-ending pursuit of perfection. The stringent and specific criteria of shape is measured through qualitative, ideological and ritualistic performances in the aim of positioning the individual in the sphere of spectacle. The performer uses only his gaze to speak to the viewer in a silent attempt to communicate the act of his physical display. The Criteria of Shape is a multi-screen installation that investigates and dissects the body into four filmic connected narratives to examine multiple perspectives, dissected time-based movement, and the viewer’s ability to piece together their own story of the performantive.
