Variation on Black

Variation on Black‘ is a recollection of my relentless daily practice at the piano as a little girl. Training like an animal. Impossible to express psychosomatic tensions communicated. Concentration and lack of movement as well as awareness of evaluation had their consequences in my formulating psyche. While I spent more time with the instrument, I expected more from myself. The instrument turned out to be empty and deaf. Its sound is an effect of a physical impulse – a touch, and the varieties of touch are endless. In order to improve the sound of the beast I travelled into my scope of possibilities, to finally tame my own self. ‘Variation on black‘ is a piece, where the piano is prepared by my own body. A being inside being, pulsing in unison.
