Legends focuses on exploring this progressing change while unpretentiously discovering the natural character of the North and those who call it home. Rather than chase a predetermined story, my direction was to cautiously allow the narrative to organically reveal itself through personal connection. This direction promoted a level of authenticity and ensured that my team maintained conscientious presence in the overwhelming splendor. Extensive research was conducted in several locations throughout Alaska including Anchorage, the Kenai Peninsula, Nome, Shishmaref, the Denali wilderness, Valdez and various points in between. This project could not have been completed without the generosity of the Alaskan people. Their welcoming nature allowed me and my team to truly experience the daily routines of this very unique place from the point of view of an Alaskan. Our experience is referenced in this film in a manner that avoids the obvious while providing an aesthetic document of the present.
