I use the medium of digital video to create textural works that compress vast amounts of time into small amounts of space. In “people passing in front of and behind a chain-link fence”, the diamond spaces of a chain-link fence are used to redistribute the past, present and future activities of people in front of (walking, running, bicycling) and behind (walking, playing, relaxing) the fence that surrounds New York City’s Sheep Meadow in Central Park. The video is a single shot divided into 781 videos, each one corresponding to an individual space within the chain-link fence.
