Lasha Mowchun

Lasha Mowchun is artist with a predominantly lens based practice, who uses her camera to consider how the manipulation of media effects the meanings of the body. Often working with feminist sensibilities Lasha has made several films which position the body within the tensions of culture, gender, power and technological representation. Using conceptually motivated narratives, her characters realize themselves in odd relationships to their bodies. Their bodies are the source of music, subterfuge or abstraction. Lasha developed as a filmmaker after graduating with a BFA, expanding technical knowledge and challenging herself conceptually with several extended projects.
