Geo Barcan

Geo Barcan is a Romanian artist based in Rotterdam who uses moving-image, text and installations to question dominant narratives across recent histories. By analyzing ideological and cultural apparatuses she seeks the origins of such narratives and looks at how peripheral subjects, be they humans, plants or animals, experience them. She understands her artworks as propositions that indicate alternatives to the dominant ideologies that shape our understanding of what nature or technology is.
